USE THIS 5-STEP PLAN
FOR SUCCESS WHEN
YOU DON’T HAVE A TON
OF TIME OR MONEY.
n BY CHRIS EBERHART

Imagine stepping into a new woods for a bow-hunt. You are after big bucks that you presume roam the area but are not certain they are even around. You have never seen these woods before, nor do you have any help from locals, a guide, or the advantage of spring or pre-season scouting, and you only have a week to hunt.

It might be late September, mid October, or even mid November. You might be in familiar looking terrain or you might be in a completely new habitat that you’ve never hunted before.

What do you do now? This is a daunting question for a lot of bow-hunters.

I put myself in these kinds of situations every year, and I call it “freelance bow-hunting.” I’ve embraced these style of hunting not only because it is very affordable, but because it is one of the most challenging ways to hunt whitetails and provides the ultimate test of a hunter’s skill.
